Abstract

The objective of the paper is to identify the behavior of the consumer against the breakdown of stock at the point of sale. In order, actions were identified in the behavior of purchase before the rupture related to variables loyalty to the retail, fidelity to the price, planned purchase, delayed purchase, urgent purchase and abandonment of the purchase. It has been pointed out that consumers whose purchasing criteria are heavily price-based tend to abandon buying when they do not find the product they usually buy; consumers who are loyal to a buying channel tend to abandon the purchase when they do not find the product in the usual channel; consumers who plan their purchases in advance are less likely to abandon a purchase when they cannot find the product; and consumers who plan their purchases in advance are less likely to abandon a purchase when they cannot find the product.
