MAPPING OF THE MUSHROOM PRODUCTION CHAIN IN ALTO TIETÊ

The Mushroom production in Alto Tietê region is represented by more than 80% of its national production. This fact is due to the strong numbers of farmers who make up the ‘green belt’ and the climate that favors the production of mushrooms. Mapping the production chain of the mushroom can help to find the difficulties in the production and distribution of the crop. Thus, this article aimed to analyze the Alto Tietê - SP mushroom production chain. At the first, it is discussed the mushroom agribusiness, showing the potential of this activity, and then proceed to the research method used based on a case study, referencing an interview with the Alto Tietê Fungiciers Association management corp. Through this study, it is pointed out the need to improve the mushrooms production chain, aiming for better productivity, profitability and less need to import mushrooms from China.
