UMA ENTREVISTA COM COOPERATIVAS DE RECICLAGEM DO RIO DE JANEIRO

Due to the increase in urban waste production, there is a need to dispose of it correctly in the future. Even with the rise in the number of federal incentives and support for waste collectors, the majority of Brazilian municipalities responsible for carrying out selective collection do not partner with recycling cooperatives, which are responsible for the majority of the collection and correct disposal of this waste. Therefore, this study aimed to understand the reality of cooperatives located in Baixa Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro, through a questionnaire. Through the questions, it was possible to observe that most cooperatives are located in communities, but do not collect in the place where they are installed. All cooperatives use personal protective equipment such as gloves and closed-toe shoes. Material is collected by truck and sorted manually, but the method varies between cooperatives.
