CORRELATION ANALYSIS OF THE IMPORT AND EXPORT ACTIVITIES OF MANUFACTURED PRODUCTS IN THE STATE OF SÃO PAULO

This study aims to investigate whether there is a correlation between the import and export activities of manufactured products performed in the State of São Paulo. The analysis was performed by using simple linear regression statistical calculation, aiming to verify whether there is a correlation between the variables. The findings indicate that there is no correlation between the variables but just a weak correlation between the import of manufactured products and time. The lack of correlation between the variables can be seen as positive because it indicates that Brazil can concentrate forces to increase its exports without this depends on how much it imports of products. Findings may help practitioners and managers in the understanding of the import and export behaviors of such products when making decisions.
