Abstract

The intense flow of vehicles circulating through the road network of the commercial center of the city of Suzano and which are potential consumers for the region ends up turning into losses, because the difficulty in finding a parking space has negatively influenced the city's commerce. To mitigate this situation, the paid rotary parking system is operated in the region with the highest concentration of commerce. However, the fact is that this system has not fulfilled its real purpose of ensuring vehicle turnover by ending the maximum permanence and uninterrupted time in the same slot, therefore, mischaracterizing its purpose and reducing the effective number of users per slot during the operation of the system. Thus, this study aims to identify bottlenecks and propose possible improvements in the operation of the system, and, for this purpose, exploratory and quantitative research was carried out, which also included field interviews, and, after a thorough analysis of the results, it was concluded to suggest that the area operated by the system is divided into numbered blocks, this numbering being noted in a specific field on the ticket and or application for permanent conference of the monitors, thus ensuring greater turnover in the use of these spaces and increasing the efficiency of the system, consequently, boosting consumer access trade in the region and leveraging this important source of revenue for the municipality.
